What is a black hole?

The black hole is located in space where gravitational force pulls intensively that even light can not be able to escape. Gravity is the force between two objects it also depends upon the mass of objects. The gravity of a black hole is very strong because matter has been squeezed into a tiny space. The black hole is formed when a star is dying. Every star is not able to become a black hole it depends upon the mass of the star.

Types of black holes:

There are various types of black holes but here we will discuss a few of them.

  1. Tiny black holes:

The black hole also be very small, because it formed when a huge mass is squeezed into a smaller volume then it will become dense. Tiny black holes are as small as just an atom. But they have the mass of a large mountain.

How they formed:

According to the big bang theory matter is concentrated at a single point. At that time, there happened a disturbance, and all that matter with high energy scattered in space. At that point, some portion of matter is compressed with so much energy that a huge amount of matter is squeezed to form a black hole.

      2. Stellar black holes:

Another kind of black hole is called “stellar”. It is a heavy black hole it has a mass 20 times more than that of the sun. There are many stellar black holes in a milky way. It has a mass ranging from 5 to several tens of solar masses.

How they formed:

Stellar black holes formed when a star several tens times the mass of the sun ran out of fuel. When a star ran out of fuel it will explode. This explosion phenomenon is known as a supernova. When it explodes it scatters matter in outer space.

        3. Super massive black hole:

The largest black holes are called “supermassive.” These black holes have masses that are more than 1 million suns together. Scientists have found proof that every large galaxy contains a supermassive black hole at its center. The supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way galaxy is called Sagittarius A. It has a mass equal to about 4 million suns and would fit inside a very large ball that could hold a few million Earths.

How they formed:

Scientists think supermassive black holes were made at the same time as the galaxy they are in.

Why we can’t be able to see a black hole?

We can be able to see objects when light came from particular objects and reach our eyes’ retina. As black holes have so intense levels of gravity even light can’t escape from the surface of black holes. This is why we can’t be able to see black holes.

But scientists can see how strong gravity affects the stars and gas around the black hole. Scientists can study stars to find out if they are flying around, or orbiting a black hole.

When a black hole and a star are close together, high-energy light is made. This kind of light can not be seen with human eyes. Scientists use satellites and telescopes in space to see high-energy light.
